About Linda

In 2023 Linda moved to Porto, Portugal after living in Washington State for over 34 years. She is a traveler, an avid walker, wanderer and reader; as well as a member of a writing group comprised of American and Irish poets.

Linda's writing is infused with a deep sense of place and love of the natural world. Her poems consider the loss of her 20 year old son, Evan, in the mountains of British Columbia and her oldest brother, Tommy, to brain disease; the end of a long marriage, aging parents, journeys and joys. Her poetry also celebrate her years living in the North Cascades and on the shores of the Salish Sea.

She holds close two pieces of advice shared by mentors: Luis Alberto Urrea's "Writers build bridges, not borders," and Lori Jakiela's "Writers should be looking for, and creating, luminous moments."

It is Linda’s hope that her work connects readers to the wonders, both small and vast, that we live among.

Linda is a graduate of Chatham University’s Low-Residency MFA Program with a focus on Environment, Nature and Travel Writing. Publications include “Letters to Julia: 1898-1899, The Methow Valley” in a fine art letterpress book, published by The Methow Conservancy. Her poems have also appeared in various online and print journals as well as a chapbook, “Reply of Leaves.” She is particularly interested in collaborating with artists and writing poems inspired by visual art. In 2022, an exhibit and book, “Some Mornings,” featured 16 of Linda’s poems and artist Meg Kaczyk’s painted responses was presented in Port Townsend, WA. In 2023, a book, “what do I know of joy,” featuring Linda’s poems responding to Cayen Robertson’s art was exhibited in Mill Valley, CA, with the art that inspired them.
